Website Upgrade

March 2019

Welcome to our new website – has been upgraded. A redesign of the site was carried out in February 2019 to create to an accessible, secure, modern and responsive website with a focus on access to planning and spatial data. now includes a map gallery to include a variety of themed web maps. Useful links to the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government’s Open Data portal have also been provided along with additional links to various organisations producing Open Data or involved in the planning process. ( was originally developed by the Forward Planning Section of the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government (now the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government) and launched by the then Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Jan O’Sullivan, in April 2012.

The primary aim of the project was to create an online one-stop shop to provide spatial information on development zones and further additional information relevant to the planning decision-making process, such as census data, heritage sites, patterns of housing development etc. The information was to be provided openly in a web map format, not only for the benefit of the public but also to assist with co-ordination between local authorities, government agencies and the delivery of public services.
